2011 → 2026
Same Soul. Completely Reimagined.
This alien/creature design was originally created back in 2011 in Cinema 4D and was rendered at the time using the classic Advanced Renderer.
I have now completely reinterpreted the original model and further developed it using today’s workflows to see how the same idea would look with modern technologies, materials and look development.
Among other things, the following were used:
• modern look development
• new materials & subsurface scattering
• photorealistic wet/wax shaders
• cinematic lighting & atmosphere
• detailed compositing in Photoshop
• AI-assisted exploration & texture enhancement
• Upscaling & final fine-tuning for modern presentation quality
It’s fascinating to see just how much rendering technologies, materials and creative pipelines have changed in recent years.
What already made a strong impression in the past can now be taken to a whole new level with modern tools, experience and new workflows.
For me, that’s exactly where the fascination lies:
not simply discarding old ideas — but breathing new life into them with the latest technologies.
